Ruth Ann Botkin

Ruth Ann Botkin, 84, of Zionsville, Indiana passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at Hoosier Village Retirement Community after a long battle with dementia. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, James E. Botkin, MD; three children: Chris Botkin (married to Angie [Propst] Botkin), Amy [Botkin] Beal (married to Shane Beal), and John Botkin (married to Jennifer [Roach] Botkin); 6 grandchildren: Elijah Beal, Seth Beal, Avery Beal, Ben Botkin, Nate Botkin, and Anna Botkin; Older sister, Becky Swathwood, and younger brother, Dick Kibbey. Ruth was born on August 31, 1941, in Matthews, Indiana, to parents Mary and Doyte Kibbey, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Upland, IN and attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky. She later continued her studies with a BS in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University, passing her RN boards at age 50. Married in 1967, she and Jim together raised their three children in Marion, Indiana. Her family & friends were her primary interests. She was a voracious reader who could always be found in the shade with a book in her hands. Her skill with knitting led her to make many blankets for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and others. Her love of children meant that at most family gatherings she could be found with a baby in her arms. She sang in church choirs most of her life. She took her faith seriously and was always willing to volunteer in church functions. She loved to travel with the family, making numerous trips throughout this beautiful land of ours. However, when asked to join on a hike or view a vista, her usual response was, "I can see it from here!" Ruth's Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Hoosier Village Chapel, 9787 Hoosier Village Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46268. Visitation at 1pm, with Memorial at 2pm.
