Garrett Gaston, age 57, of Medina, Ohio, passed away on July 26th, surrounded by family and love. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina, the youngest of five children of Tommy and Bonnie Gaston. As a proud Navy family, the Gastons lived in several places throughout Garrett's childhood, including South Carolina, Connecticut, Mississippi, and Rhode Island, before settling in Ohio in 1977. Garrett graduated from Copley High School and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
A dedicated professional, Garrett worked in Information Technology across a number of organizations, including United Theological Seminary, Kent State University, The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, and most recently, as Director of Information Technology at Cleveland Municipal Court, a role he stepped away from in March of 2025 due to illness.
On June 13, 2009, Garrett married the love of his life, Annmarie, and together they built a life of devotion and shared dreams. Garrett enjoyed trips to Vegas and Michael Buble' concerts with his wife. He adored his grandchildren; had a soft spot for his beloved dogs; and endured a complex, love-hate relationship with the Cleveland Browns. Garrett was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Annmarie, and children: Spencer Gaston (Amanda), Alexandra Gaston (Sara Carmichael), Ashlee Stillwagon (Randall), and Lucas and Mason Fonseca. He also leaves behind his parents, Tommy and Bonnie Gaston; his siblings: Christopher Gaston (Denise), Cheryl Allison (Reginald), Tom Gaston (Mary), and Doug Gaston (Mary); seven grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Garrett will be remembered for his kindness and his deep love for his family. He leaves behind a lifetime of happy memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him best.
Now that his soul is free to roam wherever he pleases, he won't ever again say "I've never been to Belize."
The family will be honoring Garrett's memory with visitation on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Dr. Michael Carlson officiating. Blue was Garrett's favorite color. If you are attending his services, we invite you to wear something blue, however small, in his memory.
