Gregory James Fitzgerald, of Westlake, Ohio, passed away on July 11, 2025, at the age of 68. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud patriot, Greg lived a life grounded in love, service, and family.
Greg served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps and continued that spirit of service in his community as a beloved softball coach. His passion for mentoring young athletes left a lasting impression on many.
Greg cherished his time with family, especially during summers spent at Kelley's Island-fishing, relaxing, and making memories that will be treasured for generations. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, and his strong values, humor, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him. Greg was always the life of the party and loved to have a good time.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Amy Fitzgerald, and his children: Heather Fitzgerald, Kelly (Michael) Bradway, Kaitlin Kmetz, Kevin Fitzgerald, Tyler Cruse, and Samantha Fitzgerald. He was a proud grandfather to Chase and Conner Bush, Maddison and Amelia Bradway, Zayden and Izabella Kmetz, Carson and Carter Cruise and Elijah LeCastre and by his sisters, Anita Zupich, Janice Ulmer, Peggy (Margaret Mary) Fitzgerald, and sister-in-law Christine Fitzgerald.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Courtney Fitzgerald, his brother Robert Fitzgerald, his sister Kathleen Case Palker, his brothers-in-law Richard Case, Louis Palker, and Thomas Ulmer and his parents, Robert Joseph and Mary Margaret Fitzgerald.
Greg's legacy of love, service, and strength lives on through his family and the many lives he touched.
The family will be honoring Greg's memory with calling hours on July 28th from 5pm-7pm at Carlson Funeral Home - Medina Chapel, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, OH 44256. A funeral service will be on July 29th at noon, followed by procession to Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
