Doris Cheeks, 84 of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022.
Born on December 3, 1937, in Portsmouth, Virginia was a daughter of (the late) Lizzie Caroline Sessoms and Wilson Outlaw.
Doris enjoyed writing poetry as a youth, reading, and interior decorating. She also enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and for others. Doris was a very giving mother to her four children, grandchildren, great-grand children. Her greatest joy was serving her God, Jehovah for 49 years. Helping others to learn more about him. She will be dearly missed.
Doris is preceded in death by Rubin Cheeks, Sr., Jacqueline Carrol Cheeks, Lizzie Caroline Sessoms.
Doris is survived by Rubin Cheeks, Jr.(son), Cheryl Smith (daughter), Geraldine Cheeks (daughter). Grandchildren: Andrea Kappeli, Carolyn Velez, Rubin Cheeks III, Wayne Donavon Smith, Rosalyn Cheeks, Natalie Vaughn, Derrick Cheeks, Shontel Means, and great grandchildren, nieces and nephew, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 25, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation at 869 St James Ave Goose Creek, SC 29445.
The service will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witness 829 St James Ave, Goose Creek SC 29445. The burial will be private at McAlister-Smith Crematory - Goose Creek.

I was really hurt at heart to find out very late that I had lost my dear spiritual sister who I never saw upset and also spoke very kind words to others. I loved her and look forward to seeing her when God makes all things new and awaken her from her deep sleep so that we can be together again.
