Doris Corns Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Honaker Funeral Home on Aug. 31, 2025.
Doris Ellen Dye Corns, age 92, of Rosedale, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Sunday (August 31, 2025) while surrounded by her loving family. Born July 14, 1933 in Russell County, Virginia, she was one of sixteen children of the late Richard "Marshall" and Carie Ethel Hess Dye. She spent her early life in Russell County. She married Charles Russell Corns in 1966 and they made their home in Ohio for nearly forty-five years. After Russell's death in 2010, she moved back to Virginia. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Pine Creek Holiness Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible, talking on the phone, watching television, working word search puzzles, and singing. She had an amazing ability to recall song lyrics and would join in anytime she heard someone singing a song she knew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Russell Corns; brothers, Dolphas Stanley Dye, Claude Dye and wife, Reka, Luther Dye and wife, Betty, Don Dye and Dolphas Dye; sisters, Roxie Maedean Dye, Ollie Marie Dye, Eunice Cordill and husband, Claude, Delcie Dye and husband, Herman and Judy Carol Dye.

Survivors include her brothers, Cecil Dye and wife, Margaret, Danny Dye and wife, Ellen and Ronnie Dye and wife, Sharon; two sisters, Connie Richardson and husband, Daniel and Wanda Richardson and husband, Fred, with whom she had made her home for the past six months; sisters-in-law, Doris Ball Dye and Wilma Sparks Dye; special caregivers, Wanda Smith, Ellen Dye, Jill Richardson and Connie Richardson; special nephews, Freddie Richardson and Conner Richardson; special great-niece, Aubree Musick; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Amnesty Home Health and Ultra Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Richardson, Rev. Tommy Dye and Rev. David Perkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon, Virginia.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
