Doris J Deuchar, 94, of Manchester passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2024 at Sunnyside Manor LTC, Wall after a long illness. She was born in Bronx, NY and grew up in Yonkers, NY. Doris earned a BS from Syracuse University where she was a devoted member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. After college, Doris was active in community clubs where she met her husband, Ernest. She worked as an executive secretary before settling in Somerset, NJ where she raised her family. She later moved to Manchester, NJ where she resided for 30 years.
Doris spent much of her life as a homemaker who loved being a mother and grandmother. Nothing made her happier than supporting her family in their endeavors. Sharing ice cream or a home cooked meal with family and showing off her flowers always brought smiles to her face. She especially loved spoiling her cat and grandcats. Doris spent many happy days at Island Beach State Park, visiting Ocean Grove and walking the boardwalks of NJ as well as travelling upstate NY.
Doris was considerate, friendly and always willing to lend a hand. She spent many years involved with the Middlebush Reformed Church and her sorority alumni association. Dancing with her husband, Ernie, to big band music was one of her great joys.
She was predeceased by her husband Ernest in 2013 and her sister, Marge. Doris will be greatly missed by her family - children, Eric Deuchar & his wife Beth and Debbie Wernoch & her husband Mitchell and 4 grandchildren, Melissa, Rylee, Lacey & Cole.
Services are Saturday 11 Am at Ocean County Memorial Park Chapel, Toms River with an entombment to follow. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association 23 Vreeland Rd #105, Florham Park, NJ 07932.
