Walter "Bud" Orlovsky, a beloved father, grandfather, and partner, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on April 10, 1943, Bud lived a life marked by dedication to his family, a strong work ethic, and a passion for his many interests, friends, and community.
Bud spent his early years in Garfield and Iselin, New Jersey, where he was a talented athlete, excelling in basketball. His athletic spirit continued into his 40s, when he accomplished the impressive feat of running marathons. A true enthusiast of rock and roll, Bud was a particular fan of Led Zeppelin. He also found peace and enjoyment in the outdoors, whether fishing from the shore or a jetty, or meticulously gardening, cultivating fresh vegetables and even a lemon tree. Bud especially loved a competitive game of pinochle with his friends, a cherished pastime that brought him much joy. Professionally, Bud dedicated many years to his work as a vending machine mechanic.
He later settled in Colonia, New Jersey, where he lovingly raised his two daughters. In his retirement, Bud found joy and tranquility in Toms River, where he created lasting memories and became an active member of the Renaissance community. There, he was a proud participant in the Irish-American Club, the Italian-American Club, the Shields, and the Passaic, Morris, Essex, and Bergen clubs. Bud's competitive spirit shone through as Captain of the Bocce Team. Beyond social clubs, he dedicated his time to serving as a board member of Friends of Island Beach and was a part of the Ocean County Elite Team.
He is survived by his devoted daughters, Denise Nunes and Laura Colacicco, who will forever cherish his memory. Bud was a proud grandfather to Michael, Tyler, Brianna, Chrysten, and Lauren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his loving partner, Geraldine Finnegan, who shared his later years with companionship and warmth. Bud was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Orlovsky.
Bud will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and community will be remembered always.
