Doris Drury Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home - East Louisville on Feb. 22, 2025.
Doris Dean (Clark) Drury passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, at the age of 93. She was born in 1931 in Louisville's West End, and later moved to the Middletown area to live on her family's farm. Doris married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Leon Drury, in 1949. Doris and Ralph (who preceded her in death) were married for 64 years. They built their dream home on the farm and raised two sons, Wayne and Ron.
In the 1960s, Ralph went to work for NASA in Huntsville, Alabama. Doris saw the family through several NASA-related moves during that time, but ultimately her heart led her and the family back home to the farm in Kentucky.
Doris was an active 70-year member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Middletown. She loved gardening and canning the vegetables she grew; dancing with the Belles 'n' Beaus Square Dance Club; fishing extensively with Ralph; spending time with her grandchildren; watching UK basketball games; and hosting family holidays.
Doris is survived by her sons, Lawrence Wayne (Renee) Drury of Kirkland, WA; Ronald Lee Drury of Middletown; brother-in-law and special friend David Stillwell of Middletown, who lovingly cared for Doris in her final years; and grandchildren Amalie (JC Steinbrunner) Drury of Highland Park, IL; Claire (Karl) Heckenberg of Chicago, IL; Lee (Kirstan Gooch) Drury of Punta Gorda, FL; Olivia (Michael) Rapp of Seattle, WA; and Alexandra Drury of Kirkland, WA; as well as six great-grandchildren: Augie, Ava, Magnolia, Sedona, Johnny and Penelope.
Visitation to be held at Ratterman Brothers East, 12900 Shelbyville Rd., on Tuesday, February 25 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral service and burial at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 13800 Aiken Rd., on Wednesday, February 26 at 11 am.
