Doris Josephine "Smith" Fitzgerald

Doris Josephine Fitzgerald, 92, of Eldersburg, died Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Carroll Hospital Center. Born August 22, 1933 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Walter Edward Smith and Elsie Wheeler Smith. She was the widow of Norris Fitzgerald, Sr. They had been married for over 50 years. Doris had worked several jobs during her life. She had worked in the returns department on the sixth floor of the Montgomery Wards Building. She had also worked at Bromo Seltzer and Oriole Paper Box. She had enjoyed working at all these places. She also loved to watch cowboy movies and the Hallmark Network. She also loved Christmas, doing word search puzzles and coffee, cookies and sweets. Doris is survived by two sons Norris Fitzgerald, Jr., and wife Deborah. Michael Flynn, and wife Harriett, grandchildren Nicholas Fitzgerald, Christina Flynn, Harley Flynn, great grandchildren Rebecca, Brittany and others. Doris is also survived by a sister, Joann Grimes, a brother, Charles Smith and grandmother of the late Michelle Flynn. Prayer Services will be held at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD, at 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 15th, with Deacon Thomas White officiating.
