Doris Morhous Gordon passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, with her family by her side.
Doris was born on January 26, 1929, in Jay, NY to Addie and Francis Morhous. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Lawrence "Waxy" Gordon, and her son, Ronald. Doris was the last surviving member of 12 children, and she is now reunited with them in heavenly glory.
Throughout her life, Doris worked in various capacities including, a secretary at Gordon Oil, real estate agent for Au Sable Acres, Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant, and as the cook and operator of Gordon's Deli.
Doris spent 40 years in Vero Beach, Florida, where she was an active member of her church choir, volunteered at the Salvation Army serving the homeless, modeled for Patchington and participated in The Red Hat Society. She lovingly cared for two elderly women whom she considered family.
A lifelong lover of reading, singing, skiing, walking, and cooking, Doris often delighted her family and friends with her delicious recipes. Walking became her favorite pastime in her later years. In one year, she walked over 1000 miles-equivalent to traveling from Vero Beach, Florida to Au Sable Forks, New York. She also traveled across the United States and abroad, going on cruises, living a fun full life.
She is survived by her daughters and their husbands: Kathy and Jim Votraw, Denise and Paul Gladue; her sons and their wives: Jon and Ellen Gordon, David and Joey Gordon; nine grandchildren: Karley Votraw, James (Jamie) Votraw, Kelly Gordon (Santina), Randi Gordon (Jason Gilzene), Mackenzie Gordon, Kristin Bombard (Andrew), Kodi Gordon (Amanda), Austin Depo (Jess), and Carter Gordon; as well as 16 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her last remaining brother and sister-in-law Howard and Nancy Gordon.
