Doris May Harrison

It is with a heavy heart we share the news that Doris Harrison passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24th 2026 at our Hanover Medical Group Home, surrounded by staff who cared deeply about her.

Doris came to us more than 40 years ago from the North Jersey Developmental Center. Over the years, she was part of many of our homes and programs - beginning at Hanover Group Home, then moving to our Supported Living Program. Doris also attended our Hanover Adult Training Center. As her needs changed, she transitioned to the Drakesville Supportive Apartment, later to the Parsippany Group Home, the Lake Parsippany, and most recently the Hanover Medical Group Home. Each place she lived, she made it her home.She received the Bill Sackter Citizenship Award in recognition of her successful transition from the developmental center to the community - something she was very proud of.

Doris had a spunky personality and was never shy about speaking her mind. She always knew what she wanted and made sure everyone else knew too. Her strong will and determination made her a wonderful self-advocate. ArcMorris truly became her family, and she was loved by everyone who knew her.

Doris did not want to be in a nursing home or be alone, so she returned home for hospice care. We are grateful that she was able to spend her final moments in a familiar place, surrounded by people who cared about her.

She will be deeply missed, but her strength, spirit, and voice will always remain a part of our community.

All are invited to attend her Visitation on Wednesday, March 4th 2026 from 12:30 -1:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service to be offered at 1:00 p.m. at the Par-Troy Funeral Home. 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany.
