Doris Rae Herberholz (nee' Giedinghagen) was born June 13, 1936 in
Washington, MO to Clarence and Esther (nee' Pasch) Giedinghagen. She passed away at her home in
Union, MO on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at the age of 89 years.
Doris grew up in
Bland, MO and moved with her family to
Washington, MO later in her childhood. She graduated from Washington High School in 1954. While working at St. Francis Hospital in Washington, Doris met her future husband, Richard Herberholz. Doris and Richard were united in marriage on October 6, 1956. The couple made their home in Union and their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Susan Lynn and Jo Ann.
Doris worked as a legal secretary for many years. She spent most of her career working for local attorneys Walter Murray Jr. and Mark Vincent. She was elected to serve as the Franklin County Public Administrator and served the citizens of Franklin County with dedication and compassion. Doris retired after serving as Public Administrator for 10 years.
Doris loved to spend time with her family. From family gatherings and celebrations, to casual visits with loved ones, Doris loved having her family by her side. Later in life, she enjoyed helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time sewing and reading. Doris was an active member of her community and dedicated much of her time to the American Legion Post 297 Ladies Auxiliary. In earlier years, she was member of the City Slickers Ladies Group.
Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 65 years, Richard Herberholz; one daughter, Susan Miller; grandson, Robert Miller; her parents, Clarence and Esther (nee' Pasch) Giedinghagen; her brother, Ronald Giedinghagen; and her parents-in-law, Henry and Anna (nee' Huehnken) Herberholz.
She is survived by one daughter, Jo Arand and husband Paul of Union; son-in-law, Steve Miller of Carthage; four grandchildren: Kaleb Arand (Melissa) of Beaufort, Jessica Johnson (Brandon) of Centerton, AR, Camille Gautier (Jason) of Centerton, AR, and Khloe' Getman (Kyle) of Beaufort; six great-grandchildren: Audrey Arand (fiancé Addison Conway), Andi Arand, Stephen Johnson, Ryland Johnson, Kayden Parmentier, and Kemper Getman; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Oltmann Funeral Home in
Union, MO with Rev. Peter Blake officiating. Burial will follow in Midlawn Memorial Gardens in
Union, MO.
Visitation for 89-year-old Doris Herberholz will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Oltmann Funeral Home in
Union, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Immaculate Conception Church or American Legion Post 297 Auxiliary.
