Doris Heston Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home - East Louisville on Mar. 10, 2026.
Doris Ann (Hoffmann) Heston, 77, passed away on March 7, 2026, in the Norton Pavilion Hosparus facility surrounded by her family.

She was born January 15, 1949, in Earling, Iowa, to the late Leonard Steven and Dorothy Ann (Schumacher) Hoffmann. Doris later moved to Louisville, where she built a life centered around family, faith, and community. Doris earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with High Honors in Management from the University of Louisville. She started her career in 1968 at Citizens Fidelity Bank as an assistant note teller. She left the bank to start a family and returned in September 1972 as part of the Personnel function. She was promoted to personnel officer in September 1979, was named assistant vice president in March, 1985 and vice president in personnel in September 1986. She continued to work for the bank until she left in 1999. She later retired from Road and Rail, Inc. after more than ten years of service.

Doris enjoyed playing tennis, playing card games with family, was an avid reader, frequented Louisville Orchestra performances, and spending time with friends and family. She was a devoted member of Epiphany Catholic Church, volunteering her time with the Healing Blanket Ministry and Hope Scarves.

Doris was known for her caring and generous heart and great deal of knowledge. She always put others first and loved her family unconditionally. She attended countless of her daughter's basketball games and grandchildren's swim meets. She enjoyed family reunions and catching up with her siblings.

In addition to her parents, Doris is also preceded by her sister, Jan Raymond. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter: Jennifer Coffey (Michael); her grandchildren: Madison Coffey and Trey Coffey; her siblings: Joyce Esser, Len Hoffmann (Kathy), Lorrie Slevin (Reed), Ray Hoffmann (Vera), Rita Purkapile (Allen), Cathy Simpson (Sam), and Elaine McCord (Tom), as well as other family members and friends who will all continue her legacy.

Visitation will be from 5:00pm – 8:00pm, Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Ratterman Brothers, East Louisville (12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, KY 40243). Additional visitation will be from 9:00am – 11:00am, Friday, March 20, 2026 at Epiphany Catholic Church (914 Old Harrods Creek Road, Louisville, KY 40223) and funeral Mass to begin at 11:00am. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
