Doris Gray Hicks, 92, of the Arcadia Community, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024. For 60 wonderful years, she was married to her beloved husband, Lloyd Delmas. Doris was the heart and soul of her family, always putting others first. She lovingly cared for her mother while raising five children, making her home a warm and welcoming place for many family celebrations, holidays and gatherings. Doris was also involved in her community and church, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. In her later years, she faced health challenges with a spirit that could rival any superhero, always working hard to get back to her home and family. Doris leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable family stories. She will be sorely missed and joyously remembered.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Delmas; grandson, Aaron Roberts; parents, E.P. Gray and Sallie Marsh Gray; and siblings, Ella Mae Guttery, Gladys Trent, Juanita Burchfield, Ruth Winegar, and Sevier Gray.
Doris is survived by her children, Cathy Huddle (Larry), Dianna Roberts (Luther), Gary Hicks (Judi), Sandra Branham (Doug), and Michael Hicks; grandchildren, Melissa Ward, Natalie Adinolfi (Patrick), David Roberts, and Abbygail Branham; great-grandchildren, Steven Ward (Lakota), Alyssa Ward, Arianna Adinolfi, and Dominik Adinolfi; great-great-grandchildren, Ezamae Slagle and Asher Ward; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and sisters-in-law, Jean Fulkerson, Carolyn Allen, Elizabeth Gibson, and June Gray.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingpsort. The funeral service will follow.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arcadia United Methodist Cemetery Fund, 3954 Bloomingdale Rd, Kingsport, TN 37660, or Elm Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1530 Old Union Rd, Church Hill, TN 37642.
