Doris A. Jacobs, age 83, of Marion, Iowa passed away Friday morning, November 1, 2024, at the Unity Point Transitional Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2024, 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids. At 12:00 pm Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel of Memories. Interment will be held at Cedar Park Memorial Cemetery.
She was born March 14, 1941, in Marengo to Antone and Dorothy (Beard) Imhoff. Doris was the second oldest child of 13 siblings. Doris married Russell Eugene Jacobs June 14, 1958, in Marengo. Together they raised two sons, Ricky and Rodney Jacobs and three daughters, Julia Lewis, Barbara Boots and Katherine Jacobs; a grandmother of 10: great-grandmother of 12; great-great-grandmother of three; 11 siblings; many nieces and nephews-along with their families. Over her many years, Doris has also gained a lot of extra children through friends and family who loved her dearly.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Eugene Jacobs; her parents, Dorothy and Antone Imhoff; and her two brothers, David and Eugene Imhoff. Doris will be welcomed by many loving pets, including her most recent love Reeses a long-haired dachshund, her granddaughter's late pitbull Nissa.
She was a woman that opened her heart to everyone that came into her life. Throughout her life, Doris worked at Mount Mercy University as a housekeeper and also worked as a CNA at a nursing home. She was a homemaker after she retired. And let me tell you, if you had dirty dishes or your floor needed vacuumed or your laundry needed done, Doris was always the first to offer help in doing those tasks for you.
Doris really enjoyed getting together with her family, spending the holidays together and making wonderful meals; creating all those precious holiday memories. It may have been something that she cooked and/ or the fact that she had to clean everything inside and out after everyone was done eating. Doris really enjoyed growing and caring for gardens which may have consisted of flowers and vegetables. While she enjoyed trying new and different things too. She was open to adventures within her own physical limits.
Over many years, Doris opened herself to so many people that to this day will love and have so many wonderful memories of her. Memories that will be talked about for many years to come.
