Doris A. Johnston, 88, of Catawba Island, Ohio passed away Monday, August 25, 2025 at Story Point North, an assisted living facility in Powell, Ohio. She was born October 3, 1936 in Lancaster, Ohio the daughter of James and Mabel (Moyer) Hockman. She married Robert C. Johnston on April 17, 1955 and he preceded her in death on October 25, 2009. Doris and Bob had many dear friends in Port Clinton. Following many moves earlier in life, they settled in Port Clinton in 1978. It was “home”. They loved traveling together and often took long road trips out west, to northern Michigan, Amish country and more. They also visited Maui, Israel and Italy. Doris worked as an administrative assistant for The Beacon for many years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Port Clinton where she sang in the choir. She and her Bob were very active in the Port Clinton Athletic Boosters and she loved crafting. For many years she organized the crafts at Otterbein North Shore Retirement Village in Lakeside. Surviving are her son: Jeff (Cheri) Johnston, of Delaware, OH; daughter: Christine (Richard “Rick” Schultz) Johnston of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Sara (Brett) O’Connor of Powell, OH, Nathan Johnston of Delaware, OH, Leah Johnston of Delaware, OH, Zachary (Malorie) Baugh of Lindsey, OH, Abigale (Brandon Montgomery) Baugh of Oak Harbor, OH; great-grandson: Robert James “R.J.” Baugh; sister: Norma Jean George of Lancaster, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Robert; sister: Annie (Pete) Shrider and brother-in-law: Ed George. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church 135 Adams St. Port Clinton, OH 43452.
