Doris Mae Van Blarcom, age 92, of Bear, DE, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
Born in Greenwood, DE on May 21, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Ward and Evelyn (Hood) Messick. Doris was the proud former owner of Earle's Tire Sales in New Castle, working into her 80's. She was never one to sit still when work needed to be done. She loved the beach and spent many summers in Angola by the Bay and Pott Nets. Doris was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking, she always had a pot on the stove and ready. With her love of horses, she introduced her daughters into the equestrian world. Doris will be lovingly remembered as strong willed, hard working and especially for her fierce independence.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Earle Van Blarcom, Sr.; son-in-law, Kevin Kite; grandson, R.J. Van Blarcom; and sister, Joan Van Blarcom. She is survived by her children, Gwen Lantagne (Peter), Elaine Kite, Kelly Testerman (Gary), and Earle Van Blarcom, Jr. (Heather); grandchildren, Karen Dills, Laurie Dills-Madrigal (Chris), Michael Orr (Laura), Zach Orr, Caitlin Orr, Delanie Walton (Sean), Katherine Rubolino (Michael), Ryan Testerman (Chelsea) and Stephanie Pollinger; and 11 great-grandchildren.
