Doris Anna O'Malley Maro went home to be with her beloved "Sweet Jesus" on February 20, 2025. Born on September 18, 1931, to the late William and Bertha O'Malley, Doris was raised in Philadelphia alongside her brother, the late William O' Malley. She spent most of her early years in Philadelphia before eventually settling in Magnolia, NJ. Doris graduated from Simon Gratz High School and later worked for the Philadelphia Bulletin. It was at the Irish Ball in Philadelphia where she met the love of her life, the late Dr. Robert Maro, Sr. The two were married on June 20, 1953. and together they built a beautiful life, raising five children: Robert Joseph Maro, Jr. (Linda); Patricia DeHart (Jim); The late Kathleen "Bunkey" Frame; Joseph Maro (Patrice) and Michael Maro (Carolyn). Doris found her greatest joy in being a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished homemaker. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother in law, Joseph Maro (Nancy) and cousin Bert Wilson (John).
Doris embraced life with an infectious joy. She loved family dinners, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, savoring espresso martinis, traveling the world with her late husband, and spending cherished time in Ocean City. She was known for her warmth, her laughter, and her ability to light up any room. Everyone loved Doris, and she will be deeply missed. Special thanks to Spring Hills and Samaritan staff for their loving care.
