Doris A. (Elie) Marotta, 75, of Stevens Street, Hyannis, formerly of Worcester; died on Christmas Day – December 25, 2003 at the Mary McCarthy Hospice House in Sandwich after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Carlo B. Marotta to whom she was married on May 16, 1949 and who died on December 23, 1978.

Born in Worcester, MA on May 23, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Lewinski) Elie. She was raised and educated in Worcester. She resided on Cape Cod for the past 30 years having lived in Hyannis and Marstons Mills.

Mrs. Marotta was the former owner and operator of the Boston I food store located at Eastern Avenue and Prospect Street in Worcester. From 1974 – 1978 she and her husband were the owners and operators of the Cheese Shop in the Cape Cod Mall.

In the early 1980’s she attended Kenyon Campbell Business School and later worked for CETA. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and playing bingo.

She leaves a son: Vito C. Marotta and his wife, Rachel A. Marotta, of Marstons Mills; a daughter: Mary Banner of Marstons Mills; a sister: Violet Mancuso in California; four grandchildren: Dawn, Carlo, Audrey and Vito Marotta all of Marstons Mills; a great grandson: Lucas Marotta of Marstons Mills and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 3, 2003 at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church, Centerville. Burial will follow in Beachwood Cemetery, Centerville.

Visitation has been respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 270 Communications Way, Hyannis, MA 02601.
