Doris Lillian McCarty was carried to the arms of Jesus Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 89 at Sayer Christian Village,
Lexington, Kentucky. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harold McCarty. She is survived by her sons Darrell McCarty, Kevin McCarty (Pam), four grandsons, Josh McCarty (Lauren), Scott McCarty (Kendall), Layne McCarty (Paige), Mason Ballard, and one great granddaughter, Mary Claire McCarty. The daughter of Rollie and Flossie DeLong, Doris grew up in Lexington Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her brother Harold DeLong (Jean), and her sister Minnie Guilfoil (Baron), both from
Lexington, Kentucky. She is survived by her sister, Mary Erickson (Don) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, her aunt Helen Barnett (Hubert) of
Lexington, KY, along with many generations of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other family members she loved so deeply!
She loved taking care of her family, decorating her house, hosting gatherings and spending time with family. Doris spent many years as a realtor in the Lexington area and assisted her husband Harold in the rental business they shared together through the years.
Doris also enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family. Doris was very involved at Tates Creek Christian Church in various ladies' circles, worship choir, her Sunday school class of many years, trips with the Senior Saints, get-togethers, cooking meals, and decorating tables for special occasions. Her service work at church gave her great joy, producing her sweet smile that would light the room!
Over the past 40 years, she spent her winters in Fort Myers Beach, Florida, where she was also very involved in her church and Sunday school class there. She was engaged in socials, trips, concerts, as well as opening her home to many get-togethers, filled with laughter, and great times of fellowship. She was also heavily involved with her dearly loved neighbors, sharing meals, shopping trips, with many days together filled with stories, laughter, and food. They were her loving "Beach Family."
Her last few years were spent living at the Sayre Christian village, sharing meals with her friends, get-togethers, concerts, various outings, singing in the choir, and of course, her favorite, playing bingo, which she loved dearly. The staff and volunteers at Sayre took such loving care of her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
