Doris Florina (Poirier) Murphy, 97, of North Attleboro, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Branches of North Attleboro, one day before her 98th birthday. She was the beloved wife of the late Cornelius "Connie" J. Murphy, to whom she was married for 40 years.
Born in Taunton, Massachusetts on November 12, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Poirier and the late Gilberte (Marcotte) Poirier.
Together, she and Connie spent the past four decades at their home in Lakeville, Massachusetts. She enjoyed reading, walking, crossword puzzles, playing cribbage and had fond moments with their two Cairn Terriers, T.J. and Tillie.
Having an interest in History, she was a former member of the Lakeville Historical Society and served on the Historical Commission.
She and Connie also loved to travel the world, visiting such places as China, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.
She loved her family time, especially around the holidays with her children and grandchildren. Her deviled eggs and apple pies were an expected staple at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Her past three years were spent at The Branches of North Attleboro, closer to her family. A special thank you is extended to the nurses, caregivers and staff at both The Branches and Beacon Hospice, who treated her with dedicated care and compassion.
She leaves behind her daughter, Colleen (Murphy) Vandeventer and her husband Wiliam of Attleboro Falls, MA; two sons, Daniel K. Murphy and his wife Linda of Soldotna, Alaska and Timothy R. Murphy and his wife Darlene of Taunton, MA. She was the cherished grandmother of Krystal Nelson and her husband Curtis of Anchorage, Alaska; Eric Vandeventer and his wife Chanakarn of Upton, MA; Alix (Vandeventer) Quinn and her husband Patrick of Holliston, MA; Jesse Correia and her husband Manny of Taunton, MA. She was the great-grandmother of six great-grandchildren. She was the sister-in-law of Rita Poirier of Taunton, MA.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard C. Murphy to whom she was married for 25 years and her brothers: Raymond Poirier, Alfred Poirier, George Poirier, and Rene Poirier.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am, in the "Memorial Chapel".
Burial will follow in Mayflower Hill Cemetery, 235 Broadway, Taunton, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beacon Hospice Care, 1 Father Devalles Blvd., Fall River, MA 02723.
