Darryl William Babington, 79, of Attleboro, MA passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully at his residence on the evening of November 6, 2025.
Born in Fall River, MA on August 31, 1946, he was a son of the late Edward F. Babington and the late Albertine (Galvao) Babington. He graduated in 1965 from Durfee High School Fall River, MA and received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Boston University.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam era.
His most treasured times were those spent with his beloved family creating lifelong memories to cherish. In addition, he will be remembered for his love for the water and time spent aboard his "Dawn Marie" and as a life member and past commodore of the Taunton Yacht Club.
Mr. Babington was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as Correction Officer Lt. at MCI Norfolk for 31 years prior to his retirement and was a member of the Massachusetts Correctional Officers Federated Union.
He was a member of the North Attleboro B.P.O.E. Lodge #1011. Darryl had the ability to fix anything, he was mechanically inclined and loved tinkering around his home.
Left to mourn his loss are his cherished son: Gregory W. Babington and his wife, Melissa Babington, of North Attleboro, MA; his beloved grandson: Alexander R. Babington of North Attleboro, MA; his soulmate: Lori Williams with whom he resided. He was the brother of the late Jeffrey Babington.
All are warmly welcome to celebrate his life by attending Visitation in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 4:00 pmuntil until 7pm. At 6:15 pm the Taunton Yacht Club will perform a ceremony followed by a ritual service conducted by the B.P.O.E and visitation concluding at 7:00 pm.
Private funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025. Private burial with military honors will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery and Arboretum, Mount Hope Street, North Attleboro, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to cover costs associated with burial
