Doris A. Musser, 81, of Newburg, PA, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Providence Place Retirement Community of Chambersburg, PA. Born June 19, 1943, in Pleasant Hall, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Elva Hawbaker Myers. Her beloved husband, P. Joseph “Joe” Musser, whom she married on November 5, 1966, preceded her in death on April 10, 2018.
Doris was a 1961 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. She was employed as a secretary with Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church and at the former Central Junior High. Doris also dedicated herself to making a home for her family and helping on the family dairy farm. She was a member of Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church, a former member of Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, and a member of the Gideons Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering her time at the New Life Thrift Store, knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by three sons, Brian J. Musser and wife, Lisa, of Shippensburg; Dennis A. Musser and wife, Kelly, of Shippensburg; and Ivan E. Musser and wife, Lorena, of Newburg; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; and five siblings, Ray Myers and wife, Rozanna, of Orrstown; Thelma Bert and husband, Carl, of Scotland; Mildred Goshorn and husband, Donald, of Chambersburg; Faye Caster and husband, Mark, of Chambersburg; and June Lapinid and husband, Teodoro, of Chambersburg. Aside from her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by an infant sister, Joyce Myers, and her daughter-in-law, Alice Musser.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, 7041 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor David Halteman will officiate. Interment will follow in Air Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International at gideons.org/donate, or to The Gideons International Processing Center, P.O.
