Doris L. Owens, 86, of Beaumont, died Sunday, June 29, 2025. She was born on March 20, 1939, in Port Arthur to Dee Eckols and Lester Lavergne.
Doris graduated Thomas Jefferson High School in 1957. She went on to attended Lamar University. Doris married the love of her life, Donald Owens, on June 14, 1958. She received her PHT (Pushing Hubby Through) after Donald graduated from Texas A&M in 1958. They are both active members of St. Jude’s Thaddeus Catholic Church.
Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Donald Owens; children, Patrice Owens Kihlken and her husband, Rich, and Bart L. Owens; grandchildren, Heather K. Perez and her husband, Eric; Caroline Owens Parker and her husband, James; and Douglas Kihlken; great-grandchildren, Elyse and Lyla Perez; siblings, James Lavergne and his wife, JoEllen, and Joan Peek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77706 or Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont Texas 77705.
A gathering of Mrs. Owen's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 3, 2025, at St. Jude’s Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont, with her interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.

Doris and I worked together for several years. she was a wonderful person and friend. One of our bunch as we called ourselves . I send prayers to her family.
She will be greatly missed.
