Doris Perkins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dillinger Funeral Home - Newport on Mar. 12, 2026.
Doris Marie Perkins, age 80, of Searcy, passed peacefully from this life on March 11, 2026, in Searcy. Born December 5, 1945, in Fitzhugh to John William and Lorine Marie (Branscum) O'Shields. Doris spent her life rooted in faith, family, and kindness. She was a devoted member of the Foothills Church of Christ in Searcy, where her gentle spirit and unwavering faith provided comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.

Renowned for her green thumb, Doris found joy and tranquility in her flower garden, tending each bloom with care and creating beauty that reflected her love of nature. She cherished quiet afternoons spent watching the Hallmark channel, delighting in its stories of hope and love.

For 23 years, Doris devoted herself as a cook for the England School District. Her dedication went beyond the kitchen; she was a nurturing presence for generations of students and staff, known for her warm smile and encouraging words. Her commitment to service became a foundation for her legacy in the community.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 47 years, Audrey Perkins; and her brothers, John Billy O'Shields and Robbie Dean O'Shields. Her memory lives on in those she leaves behind: her loving daughter, Dianna Bradshaw of Searcy; her sisters, JoAnn Golden of McCrory, Mary Plummer of Tupelo, Wilma Tyree of McCrory, and Carolyn Taylor (James) of McCrory; her granddaughter, Danielle McGill (Andrew) of Pensacola, Florida; her great-grandson, Wyatt McGill of Pensacola, Florida; and a host of cherished nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Doris will remember her gentle heart, her devotion to family and friends, and the warm hospitality she extended to everyone she met. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, integrity, and faith. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the love she shared will live on in the lives she touched and the memories she created.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at White Lake Cemetery.
