Doris E. 'Doy' Peters, 94, of Altamont, died at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Pastor Gene Creek officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Oakridge Cemetery, Effingham. A visitation will be held for two hours prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Care Center or the donor's choice.
Doris was born on Monday, October 8, 1928 at home in Moccasin Township, to Thomas and Lucille (Doty) Phillips. She married Harry Peters on August 2, 1947 and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1982. She was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church and retired from Honeywell International, Florida.
She is survived by her son, Rick (Robin) Peters, Bakersfield, CA; sisters, Opal Baker, Effingham and Bonnie Kemme, Beecher City; step-brother, Bill Lilly, Crestview, FL; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents; she was preceded in death by; son, Tommy Gene Peters in infancy; brothers, Robert and Larry Phillips and Cecil Phillips in infancy; step-brother, Oren Lilly; and step-sister, Dolores Meyer.
