Doris Carver Prak

Doris Carver (Gothard) Prak, 98, of Asheville, NC passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Care Partners Solace Center in Asheville, NC. Born on August 17, 1925 in Enid, OK, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Dora Carver. She was an alumnus of Florida State University where she received her Bachelor's Degree, UNC-CH where she earned her Masters Degree and of Duke University where she worked on her Doctorate degree. Her working career was spent as a teacher and Childhood Development Specialist. She was a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. Of her many accomplishments in life, being a cellist in multiple symphonies, serving as a national flower show judge, teaching English in Slovakia, serving as a leader of Friendship Force, and a member of the Asheville Kiwanis Club were among her most prized. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her spouse, Anco Prak; sister, Elouise Wheeler; and great grandson, Henry Delaney. Surviving are her children, Stephen Gothard of Durham, NC, Merideth Lovejoy and Nancy Oliver and her spouse, Richard, all of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Sarah Oliver and her spouse, Rob Delaney, of London, UK, Faith Doyle and her spouse, Jeff, of Asheville, NC, Judith Oliver and her spouse, Tony Campbell, of Asheville, NC, and Stephanie Gothard and Dorian Gothard both of Durham, NC; great grandchildren, Oliver, James, and William Delaney, all of London, UK, and Aurora and Deegan Doyle both of Asheville, NC. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Friday, February 2, 2024 in the Pulliam Chapel of Givens Estates. Interment will be in Bell Memorial Garden at Givens Estates in Asheville, NC. Memorials may be made in her honor to ABCCM of Asheville, Ministry Fund | ABCCM, or Givens Estates Employee Fund, 2360 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
