Doris M. Reed

Doris Reed of Philadelphia, PA, quietly passed away on Sunday, February 22. She leaves behind her children, Stephen and Tracy, and her grandchildren, Anthony and Trevor. She is the youngest daughter of the late William and Elizabeth McGinnis. Doris is also survived by her sister Bette, along with the relatives and friends who held her dear.

Doris will be remembered for her radiant smile that could brighten any room, whether accompanied by words or shared in silence. Her family was the centerpiece of her life; she devoted herself wholeheartedly to their happiness and supported them as they embarked on new journeys. A nurturer at heart, Doris found joy caring for children, both within her family and among friends.

Thinking about Doris evokes a life defined by faith, her deep love for her husband and children, and a remarkable ability to make anyone feel at home in her presence. She was an avid reader who often spent evenings curled up with a book while her husband was nearby. She found peace in tending to her garden, delighting in the simple joy of watching things thrive under her care.

Above all, Doris treasured time spent with her loved ones. She especially enjoyed taking walks with her husband, attending church services and family celebrations, shopping with her sister, and relishing her role as an aunt.

A humble woman with simple tastes, Doris had a soft spot for cheese pizza and pinot grigio. In her later years, she shared her days with caregivers and new friends who became like family to her, creating bonds of mutual love and affection. She will be missed in ways that words struggle to capture. However, there is comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her beloved husband, brothers, friends, and the loved ones who passed before her and that she now rests in God's loving embrace.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Friday, March 6th 10:30am at the Maternity BVM Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Avenue followed by the interment at Sunset Memorial Park.
