Doris Reynolds Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 13, 2017.
Doris L. Reynolds, 89, of Westford, Vermont passed away peacefully on May 13, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Dewey Irish and Bernice (Spear) Irish. On January 10, 1952 she married Allen C. Reynolds of Westford, Vermont. Allen predeceased Doris in November of 2008. Allen and Doris were farmers, first running a dairy farm, and later raising beef cattle. They also owned and operated an Arctic Cat snowmobile franchise. Doris loved being outdoors, working in her gardens, and enjoyed a lifetime of hunting and fishing with her husband. Doris was an excellent cook and could seemingly make something from nothing that would taste fabulous. Reading was a passion whether it be a murder mystery or the weekly Barron's financial news. In her later years, Doris took up acrylic painting and created exquisite paintings of flowers and landscapes. Although travel was limited, she loved to regale her family with stories of her time spent traveling across Europe with her sister Fanny and friend Sylvia. Doris loved to tell stories of growing up on her parents' farm and enjoyed to the end watching the chickens and baby pigs that would often run in the yard of the farm now operated by her son Allen. On the day of her passing a baby white faced Hereford calf was born, named Alis in memory of Allen and Doris. In addition to her parents and husband she is predeceased in death by siblings Bill Irish, Dorothy Irish, Doug Irish, and Fanny Brosseau. Doris is survived by her sons Allen C. Reynolds, Jr. and James (Scout) B. Reynolds; her loving grandchildren Emily (Jason) Brower, Becky Reynolds, Meghan (Ian) Hogan, Amanda Rock-Reynolds, Brian Reynolds, Dennis (Shannah) Irish and Courtney (Adam) Clark; 5 great grandchildren, Ariana Rock-Reynolds, Lucas and Deegan Hogan, and Hadley and Rowan Brower, her siblings Louise (John) Rauner, Jim (Sue) Irish, Dewey (Irene) Irish, Carol (Tom) Drolette; sister in law Patricia Irish, and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. At Doris' request there will be no calling hours; burial will take place privately. Donations of flowers, trees or shrubs to be planted on the farm in remembrance will be graciously accepted. A family gathering will be held later in remembrance of Doris. Rather than sadness and tears, Doris asked for a celebration filled with stories, laughter, music and love (a good old-fashioned hoedown).
