Doris Sanders Rounds, age 104, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI. Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Annette (Lindberg) Sanders. She was the beloved wife of the late Comer A. Rounds for 41 years until his death in 1980.
Doris grew up on her family farm in Seekonk, MA. She was a graduate of Hope High School Class of 1935 in Providence and Katharine Gibbs School in Providence in 1936. She held several secretarial positions prior to her marriage. As a young mother living in West Warwick, she was a founding member and president of the New London Avenue School PTA. She also served on the West Warwick and state PTA Councils.
Returning to work in the 1970's, Doris was employed as a travel advisor at AAA of RI Worldwide Travel Services. She traveled all over the world with her husband by her side while taking clients on tours. She retired in 1982. As a proud member of the PEO Sisterhood, she made many wonderful friendships that lasted a lifetime. She had a great love of dogs, especially long-haired Dachshunds, of which she owned many throughout her life. Doris lived a very full 104 years and will be missed deeply by all whose lives she blessed, especially her family.
