Karl Young Obituary

Visit the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory website to view the full obituary.
Karl M. Young, 67, passed away peacefully at home in West Greenwich on February 8, 2026, with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Santina L. (Toro) Young for 43 years, and together they walked hand in hand for 49 years.

Born on February 28, 1958, in Warwick, RI, Karl was the son of the late Frank Young and Muriel (Drolet) Young. An ASE Certfied master auto technician by trade, Karl spent his entire career doing what he loved. Karl took great pride in his vehicles and had an impressive collection of tools that he acquired over the years.

Karl met the love of his life, Santina, in 1977 while they were both working at Bostitch. From that moment on, they grew a life together, raising a family and creating a home filled with joyful memories. Karl was a simple man with simple pleasures - faithful to his family and just as faithful to his beer of choice, Budweiser.

He enjoyed sci-fi movies, cheering on the New England Patriots and watching The History Channel, which only added to his impressive knowledge of historical events. He loved spending time in his garage where rock and roll music played, while he worked on a project or simply relaxed. Karl enjoyed playing the guitar, shooting a game of pool, camping and boating with his family and riding Harley's in his younger days.

Above all else, Karl loved his family and his two favorite dogs, Cocoa and Zeus. He will be fondly remembered for his long, loving hugs and the quiet, steady presence he brought to those around him. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he was affectionately known as "Pepe" to some and "Poppy" to others.

In addition to his beloved wife, Santina, he is survived by his daughters, Santina M. Demers and her husband Jason of West Greenwich, RI, and their children Jaiden, Ava, and Julian; and Sheana M. Anderson and her husband Ian of Exeter, RI, and their children Lennon and Leana. Karl was also like a father to Mariah Blanchard of Norwich, CT, and a grandfather figure to Caleb and Kai.

He was the brother of Karyn Young, Kristine Young, and the late Kimberly Young and the late Craig Young. He will also be dearly missed by his many loving nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins and countless friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 13, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the East Greenwich Veteran Fireman's Club, 80 Queen Street, East Greenwich, RI.
