Charlene (Sutcliffe) Thibodeau, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 3, 1944, in
Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Evon (Rushmany) Sutcliffe. Charlene was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Thibodeau.
A lifelong caregiver by both profession and nature, Charlene earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the Community College of Rhode Island and also attended Roger Williams University. She dedicated much of her career to caring for others, volunteering and working with United Cerebral Palsy and supporting handicapped and special needs children at Meeting Street School. After becoming a registered nurse, she worked with infants at Fox Nurseries and later served as a charge nurse at Alpine Nursing Home in Coventry, where she also handled admissions. Toward the end of her career, she continued her compassionate work through private care with Bayada.
Charlene was a friend to everyone she met-always willing to help, always thinking of others. She loved spending time with friends, often picking them up and taking them out, especially for trips to the casino. She also enjoyed traveling, with Aruba holding a special place in her heart, perhaps in part for the casinos she loved so much. Her family truly meant the world to her, and nothing brought her more joy than cooking and gathering everyone together for meals filled with love, laughter, and connection.
She is survived by her two daughters, Denise Wiitala of
Coventry, RI, and Lori Lucke of Merritt Island, FL; her sister, Karen Cole of Coventry; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, with one more great-grandchild on the way. She was predeceased by her son, Mark Thibodeau.
In keeping with Charlene's wishes, all services will be private. Please consider making a donation in her memory to Alpine Nursing Home, 557 weaver Hill rd Coventry RI 02816.
