Born on August 27, 1936, in Radford, VA, Doris's journey through life was marked by her loving nature, wisdom, and thoughtfulness, traits that endeared her to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path.

Doris's early life in Radford laid the foundation for a lifetime of nurturing and care. Her journey led her to a fulfilling career as a dietician, where she combined her love for food with her passion for helping others. However, her most cherished role was that of a mother. She was predeceased by her husband Ulysses "Junior" Satterfield and 4 brothers and 3 sisters, she was the last surviving sibling of her family.

Doris was blessed with a large and ever-growing family, including grandchildren Bobby Sorgee, Jr., Christopher Sorgee, Timothy Sorgee, Joshua Sorgee, Amanda Fancher, Brandi Massey, Barry McPeak, Jr. "Nub", Kate Shipley and Stacey Waldrop. She had many great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Each of these individuals was a testament to Doris's boundless love and the care she so generously provided. She was a guiding light in their lives, offering wisdom and support at every turn.

Those who knew Doris will fondly remember her enthusiasm for life's simple pleasures. She was an avid lover of cooking, a passion she often shared with her family and friends, creating lasting memories around the dinner table. Yard sales were a special delight for Doris, as she enjoyed the thrill of discovering hidden treasures. Moreover, her love for road trips, especially those to Virginia to visit family, were cherished moments that she looked forward to with great anticipation.

Doris's impact extended beyond her family. Her involvement in various associations through her work as a dietician allowed her to touch the lives of many more. She was a beacon of support and encouragement, always ready to provide guidance or a listening ear to those in need.

In every role she embraced, Doris exemplified the virtues of a life well-lived. Her presence was a source of comfort and her actions reflected her loving spirit. She approached each day with a thoughtful consideration for others, and her wisdom was a gift she generously shared, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered.

As we bid farewell to Doris, we celebrate a life that was truly a blessing to all. Her memory will be cherished and her legacy will continue to inspire. Doris's passing is not just a loss but a reminder of the profound impact one person can have through a life of love, dedication, and kindness.
