Doris Faye Schaffer, 70, of Chambersburg, passed away at her home on September 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born February 11, 1954, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Shirley O'Brien Sanders. Her beloved husband, Craig Eugene Schaffer, whom she married on August 10, 1974, preceded her in death on August 9, 2006.
Early in her life she was employed at Pet-Reitz, Inc. in Chambersburg, later embracing the role of homemaker. She then took on a position at Modnur's Pharmacy in St. Thomas, until her retirement. Throughout her life, Doris was known for her love of the beach and her treasured time spent with family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She found immense joy in attending their sports activities and celebrating their achievements. She will be lovingly remembered for her compassion, her love for her family, and the joyful moments she shared with all those whose lives she touched.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Amy L. Fetterhoff and husband Rusty of Chambersburg; her three grandchildren, Bradyn, Abrielle, and Emrie Fetterhoff, who brought her endless happiness; her siblings, Dennis Sanders of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Dawn Imes of St. Thomas; and her half-brother, Richard Sanders and wife Kelly of St. Thomas. Additionally, she leaves behind two step-sisters, Cathy Zeger and husband Paul of St. Thomas, and Faith Sharpe and husband Bruce of Elmira, NY, as well as her step-mother, Patsy Sanders of St. Thomas. Aside from her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Steven C. Schaffer, in 2021.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Fr. Allan Wolfe will be the celebrant. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.
