Doris Bailey "Dot" Thompson

DURHAM ~ Doris (Dot) Bailey Thompson, 99, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Duke Regional Hospital. She was born September 11, 1926 to the late Kenneth and Estelle Bailey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John A. Thompson, Jr.; daughter, Cassandra "Sandy" Weaver; brother, Charles Bailey; and her grandson, Adam Thompson.
Mrs. Thompson retired from Cardens Printing Company after 30 years of service. She was a member of Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church. She loved her family and her church family, dearly. She enjoyed going fishing with her husband. She was an avid Durham Bulls fan.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her sons, John A. Thompson III (Eriko) and Kenneth A. Thompson (Teresa); sister, Sherrill Murray (Bobby); son in law, Lonnie Weaver; grandchildren, Kevin Weaver (Andrea), Kelly Withers (Lee), Steve Thompson, Brad Thompson (Jennifer), Katrina Holland (Art), John "Chip" Thompson (Bonita), James Thompson (Carolyn); 13 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 19th at Woodlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Mike Sciascia officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church 1919 Fletchers Chapel Road Durham, NC 27703.
