Doris Mae Troll, a cherished soul and vibrant presence in the lives of many, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, at Glen Cove Hospital. Born on November 29, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, Doris lived a life full of warmth, joy, and an unwavering love for her community.
Doris enjoyed a successful career as a buyer for Bloomingdale's, where her keen sense of style and dedication set her apart in the retail world. Alongside her husband Eddie, she also proudly owned and operated a local Meineke shop for many years, becoming a trusted and familiar face in the community.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Doris was deeply committed to her local community, devoting hours as a proud volunteer at the gift shop at Glen Cove Hospital.
A woman of many interests, Doris had a passion for socializing and sharing her love of life with others. She often gathered her friends for lively games of Bridge and spent countless hours piecing together jigsaw puzzles. Her sociable nature and vibrant spirit drew people to her, and she cultivated deep and lasting friendships throughout her life.
Doris leaves behind a loving family, which includes numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will always remember her warmth and kindness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eddie, who was the love of her life. Doris missed him deeply and is now reunited with him, a thought that brings comfort to those who loved her. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Susan Engstrom and John Engstrom, as well as her brother and sister, whose memories will forever hold a special place in her family's hearts.
Her legacy will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her. Visitation will be held at Whitting Funeral Home in Glen Head, NY, on April 9, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 5:00 PM. Doris Mae Troll will be remembered not just for her vivacious spirit, but for the love and joy she shared with everyone around her. She will be missed dearly.
