Doris Evelyn Walters Whitaker, born on July 10, 1924, in Trafalgar, Indiana, passed away on May 1, 2025, at the age of 100. Doris lived in Indianapolis for the last 83 years.
Doris worked at Eli Lilly and Co. for 45 years. She was a member of Westview Christian Church. Doris enjoyed quilting, baking, reading, golfing, gardening, euchre, and traveling. These hobbies enriched her life and brought her closer to her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings. Sons Ted (Marianne) & James Whitaker.
Doris leaves behind a loving family: her children, Dennis Whitaker (Cynthia) and Kathy Graves (Sean). Additionally, she leaves a legacy of 13 grandchildren and over 30 great-grandchildren.
The service to honor Doris’s life will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m.
Doris will be remembered for the love and joy she brought into the lives of those who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
