Doris was a gifted soul with a zest for life that was reflected in everything she did. A graduate of the local Cosmetology School, her caring nature and gentle touch naturally led her to a fulfilling career as a caregiver, where she touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness. Among her many interests, Doris was an exceptional cook, bringing joy to both her family and friends with her delectable creations. Her husband, David, especially delighted in her culinary masterpieces. Doris also had a passion for travel; whether she was riding out on her motorcycle or enjoying spontaneous trips to the beach for lunch, she embraced the thrill of adventure and the peace of serene landscapes. Summers in the mountains were particularly cherished, filled with laughter and unforgettable memories. A spirited entertainer, Doris welcomed loved ones into her home with open arms, always ensuring there was plenty of love to go around. Her radiant smile and genuine hospitality left lasting impressions on everyone she met.
Doris is survived by her husband David, step children, Ashley Wilson, Heather Wilson and Cody Wilson (Malley); grandchildren, Jayden, Emmitt, Ivy and Levi; brother, Doug Carter (Tina); sister-in-law, Betty Jean Carter and her mother-in-law, Patricia Wilson.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by brothers, Donny Carter and Ronnie Carter.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at North Fork Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at the home.
