Charles "Chucky" Allen Cook, a beloved father, friend, and lifelong resident of South Boston, passed away on Thursday, March 5th, 2026, at the age of 63. Born in Halifax County on March 27, 1962, Chucky was a man whose warmth and humor touched all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Cook, Jr. and Mayfield New Cook.
He led a life full of joy, friendship, and hard-earned success. He was known to be a self-employed, hardworking man, the A-1 painter in Halifax County, whose career began at the tender age of 11 with his very first job at Long's Drive-In. Chucky was never one to shy away from hard work, a testament to his dedication throughout his life.
He never met a stranger. His cornucopia of jokes were always ready to bring laughter and light into the lives of those around him. Often found meeting friends at various establishments, Chucky was an exuberant spirit, eager to share a laugh over fond memories. Known for his quick wit and generous spirit, Chucky had a way of making everyone around him feel like family. His laughter was contagious and his stories could brighten any room. His greatest pride, however, lay in his children, whom he adored and cherished above all.
He is survived by his son, Jonathan Cook; daughter, Mikaela C. Metz (Stephen); sister, Joyce Thomas; brothers, Tim Shelton (Marilyn), Les Cook (Beverly), & Dana Cook (Debbie); numerous nieces & nephews and the mother of his children and special friend, Cricket Miles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Walter Cook, III, Willie Cook, Mike Shelton, Randy Shelton, Gloria Jean Jones and Brenda Throckmorton.
He leaves behind a myriad of friends and loved ones who are eternally grateful for the joyful moments they were blessed to share. His cherished memories will remain alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
