Dorothy Ellen Allen nee Diepstra, age 77, of Lyons. Beloved wife of the late Thomas W. Allen; loving mother of Christine (Craig) Kocol, Thomas (Amanda) Allen, and Gertrude (John) Suhajda; devoted grandmother of Danielle, Heather (Nicholas) Pitre, and William Kocol, Mary, Thomas, Sydney, and Bethany Allen, and Zachary and Hope Suhajda; fond sister of Dr. Albert (Jan) Diepstra and Lori (Gary) Custard; aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a go go goer and a do do doer. She was a very positive person with a lot of love, and a lot on her calendar. She battled cancer bravely and was an inspiration to those who loved her. She had a strong sense of community and loved her church and family and friends. She loved selling Tupperware, making friendship bread and cookies for her neighbors and she loved arts and crafts. She started a community Bible study with her local "grandkids" She was fiercely independent and loved getting to senior events early so she could play her favorite card game "golf". The Lord now holds a dear treasure. She is pain free and now has a myriad of angels to tell what to do. She will be happy to see her husband Tom. She is well loved and will be greatly missed.
Visitation, Thursday, September 19th, from 3:00 PM- 8:00 PM at Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Rd. (3 blks. So. of Roosevelt Rd.,) Lombard.
