Dorothy Jean Ann Fox (nee: Heitzenrater), age 90, of Wadsworth, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 19, 2025. She was at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center in Fairlawn, after a brief hospitalization.
Born January 8, 1935, in Cleveland, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of Raymond P. and Mary A. (Sejd) Heitzenrater. She graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Cleveland, class of 1952, and later married the love of her life, Michael James Fox, on July 31, 1954, in Cleveland. Together, they shared over 50 years of love and companionship before Michael's passing on July 10, 2006.
A devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth, Dorothy found peace and joy in her faith.
Dorothy took great pride in her work and was known for her organizational skills and commitment. She retired January 30, 1998 from her position as Office Manager for Megas Manufacturing in Brooklyn Heights.
She also had a variety of passions. Dorothy was an avid traveler, a fan of bingo, had a love for reading, and enjoyed a fun gambling trip.
However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She treasured every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her spirited personality earned her the affectionate nickname "Spicy" during her residence at the Village of St. Edward, where she lived until her recent hospitalization.
Dorothy leaves behind three devoted daughters, Diane (David) Becker, Michelle (Keith) Serfass, and Elizabeth Fox; three cherished grandchildren, Alex (Heather) Serfass, Samantha Serfass, and Casey Becker; and three adored great-grandchildren, Harper, Ava, and Deacon Serfass. She is also survived by her loving sister, Nancy (Tony, dec.) Papesh, as well as many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant twin daughters, Mary and Margaret Fox.
The family will welcome friends for visitation on Wednesday August 27, 2025 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 260 Broad Street, Wadsworth. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am, with Fr. Joe Robinson officiating. A brief committal service will take place at 1:15 pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Dorothy's memory to The Village of St. Edward, 880 Main Street, Wadsworth, OH 44281, to honor the care and love Dorothy experienced during her residence there.
