Dorothy A. Bahlow, 84, of Merrill, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Woodland Court Elder Services, Merrill.
Dorothy was born August 20, 1937, daughter of the late Henry and Martha (Voigt) Kienbaum, Sr. Dorothy graduated from Merrill High School in 1955 and worked in the office at Wisconsin Public Service until her marriage. She then took great pride and joy in being a stay-at-home wife and mom. Dorothy married Edwin 'Eddie' Bahlow on August 23, 1958, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2002. For their 35th wedding anniversary in 1993, Ed gave Dorothy a Gloxinia plant. She kept that plant and it rebloomed every year for her until she passed away.
Dorothy was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill, where she was involved in bible study. Dorothy enjoyed walking through Council Grounds, being outdoors, and watching sunsets and the moon. She also liked listening to polka shows on the radio, talking on the phone and visiting with people, collecting pig knick-knacks, and taking pictures. Dorothy especially enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara (Phil) Borchardt of Merrill; daughter-in-law, Sandy Bahlow of Merrill; four grandchildren, Blake (Lisa) Borchardt of Marshfield, Marissa 'Rissie' (Jack) Wells of Waukesha, Matthew (Laura) Bahlow of Merrill, and Erin Bahlow (Dallas Ingersoll) of Merrill; three step-grandchildren, Sara Kufahl of Merrill, Ashley (Chris) Franke of Madison, and Kyle Kufahl of Merrill; eight great-grandchildren, Finnick, Everest, and Woods Borchardt, Raymond and Heidi Wells, Laney Schmidt, and Mark and Michael Bahlow; sister, Ellanora Bessey of Merrill; brother, Gordon (Louise) Kienbaum of Tomahawk; and brother-in-law, Wally (Pat) Bahlow of Merrill. Dorothy is further survived by many wonderful and caring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin 'Eddie' Bahlow; son, Mark Bahlow; siblings, Rosemary (Art) Reichelt and Henry (Eldina) Kienbaum, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Jack Bessey.
The funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Adam Rodriguez will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Paul's Cemetery, Town of Corning, Lincoln County. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday at the church.
