Dorothy S Bennett

Dorothy S. Bennett (Gill), 97, of Port Matilda, peacefully entered her eternal rest on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Born on January 7, 1929, at their family home in Pleasant Gap, she was the daughter of the late Ralph F. and Twila A. (Hines) Gill. On February 25, 1950, in Port Matilda, she married Charles "Bob" Bennett, Jr, who preceded her in death in 2014.

Dorothy graduated from Bellefonte Area High School in 1948. She worked as an admissions clerk for Penn State University for many years prior to her retirement.

Dorothy was a member of the Martha United Methodist Church in Julian. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge for many years. She was a very talented woman who enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and needle point. She often looked back at her time spent on RV trips with her husband and family with fondness and joy. Lately, you could find her sitting and gazing out her window, taking in the scenery and waiting for those precious visits from her family that she cherished so much. She was a small and petite woman, but she was a mighty one. Words do not do justice to the person she was, she embodied the true meaning of love, support, encouragement. She loved her family greatly and would do anything she could for them.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Deborah L. Bennett of Julian; her granddaughter, Jami Richards and her husband, Thadd, of Julian; two great grandchildren Jacey Wilkins (Josh) and Steven Richards (Tasha Moore); great-great granddaughter, Aubrey Mae Richards; and a step great-great grandson, Samuel Wilkins.

Along with her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by all nine of her siblings.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating, at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 201 Spring St., Milesburg. Burial will follow at the Port Matilda Presbyterian Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
