Dorothy Budd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Simpson Funeral Home - Webb City on Dec. 26, 2025.
It is with profound sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Dorothy Mechelle Budd, affectionately known as "Shell" to her loved ones. Born on May 21, 1966, in Brownwood, Texas, Dorothy lived a life full of compassion, love, and unwavering reliability - a beacon of support for all those fortunate enough to have known her. Her zest for life was infectious, and her spirit was as radiant as her favorite pastime - singing karaoke.
Dorothy's career in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Webb City Health and Rehab was a testament to her nurturing nature. She was incredibly proud of her CPR Certification, an achievement that further highlighted her enduring commitment to the well-being of others. Beyond her professional life, her love for family barbecues, fishing, and get-togethers was a testament to the value she placed on family bonds. These moments of togetherness were the bedrock of Dorothy's life.
In the words of Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." This sentiment was embodied by Dorothy, who always encouraged her children to "kill them with kindness." She leaves behind a legacy of love in her daughters, Tracy (Brance) Vaughn, Heather (Steven) Smith, Megan (Cody) Carlson, and Heidi Smith. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Trendell and Dorothy Reynolds; her life partner, George McDonald; siblings, Debra Miller, Gary Reynolds, Terry Reynolds, Yvonne Bird; nephews, Joey Hall, Joey Showalter, Cecil Ogle, Ryan Ogle, Ryan Reynolds.
A Visitation will be held Monday January 5, 2025 from 6-8pm at Simpson Funeral Home of Webb City, Missouri.
Services are under the personal care and direction of Simpson Funeral Home.
