Dorothy Jean Carothers was born August 30, 1932 in Stantonville, TN, the daughter of the late Wesley Oren Browder and Mary Willis Browder. She departed this life on March 31, 2024 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 7 Months, 1 Day.

She was united in marriage to Thomas Edward Carothers November of 1950. Mr. Carothers preceded her in death on September 20, 2007.

After graduating from Selmer High School. Dorothy and Thomas moved to Wisconsin. During their time in Wisconsin, Dorothy took on roles as an executive secretary and a manager at Mary Lester Fabrics, the couple returned to Selmer. Dorothy dedicated several decades of her life to Wal-Mart, showcasing dedication and hard work throughout her tenure there spanning over 40-50 years. She also was a member of the Court Avenue Cumberland Church in Selmer, Tennessee

Dorothy's creative spirit shone brightly through various crafts such as jewelry making, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and gardening. She held family closest to her heart. She took immense pride in her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. Dorothy was very proud of her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Carothers and husband Robert Johnson of Selmer, TN, Melinda Carothers Rymut and husband Russ of WI; a sister, Margaret Wilson and husband Gene of Bethel Springs, TN; five grandchildren: Allen Carothers of Selmer, TN, Kevin Rymut and wife Julia of Atlanta, GA, Nick Rymut of Austin, TX, Randy Carothers and wife Kaylee of Selmer, TN, Adam Rymut and wife Renee of Milwaukee, WI; two great grandchildren, Ryder Carothers, Ivy Carothers.  

In Lieu in Flowers, family request memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
