Dorothy "Dot" Ann Carpenter of Virginia Beach, Virginia went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday night, August 13th, 2025, at the age of 86. She was surrounded by her loving family when she passed.
Dorothy was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Charles Edward Kline and Leona Mary Strehlen Kline. She later became a proud Navy wife and homemaker. Her hobbies included playing Bingo, strawberry picking every summer, and cooking for her family as well as dining out for spaghetti. She was also a member of the weekly Ladies' Bowling League and the Red Hat Ladies. Dot also loved her local country music station and Country and Western Music could be heard throughout her home, as well as her singing along with it. She was a proud supporter of the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens and would cheer them on faithfully every year. She also enjoyed traveling to see her family and celebrating them.
Her predecessors include her husband, Donald Paul Carpenter; sisters Marie Brungard, Catherine Hauer, and Theresa Payton; Brothers Lawrence Kline, Charles Kline, Frank Kline, and Edward Kline; and great grandson Sean Kaleb Watson.
Left to cherish her memories are her children: Darlene and Robert Watson, Doreen Goodnight, Terrie Carpenter, Andrea and Jerry Ricks, and Donald Carpenter, Jr.
Her grandchildren include Christina and Marlon Brandon, Gary and Andi Goodnight Jr., Robert and Samantha Watson Jr, Brian and Kim Ricks, Timothy and Nicki Watson, Shane and Kendra Goodnight, Bailey and Michael Lee, Kyle and Brandi Ricks, Jacob and Heather Goodnight, and Katelynn Carpenter.
Her great grandchildren include Tyler and Jasmin Watson, Devin Watson, Aniah Brandon, Roman Goodnight, Aspen Goodnight, Lindel Goodnight, Kaylee Goodnight, Jack Goodnight, Hudsyn Goodnight, Jake Goodnight, Samuel Pool, Jeremy Pool, Addilynne Cox, and Alora Ricks.
Her great-great grandchildren are Dominic and Luciana Watson.
Siblings Leona Shannon and John and Jeanne Kline, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Family and friends can honor and celebrate Dorothy's life with visitation at Evans Funeral Chapel at 8800 Harford Road Parkville, MD 21234 from 3-5 pm and 7-9pm on Wednesday August 20, 2025. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Thursday August 21st at St. Joseph Fullerton Catholic Church, 8420 Belair Road, Nottingham, MD 21236. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.
