Dorothy Jean Counard, 97, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 24, 2024, after a brief illness. Jean was born on June 24, 1926, to the late Lester and Esther (Marek) Albert in Clintonville, Wisconsin. She married Robert Counard on November 25, 1952. Together they made their home in Green Bay and started a family.
Jean worked many office jobs during her career and retired from UW-GB after holding many postions there. After retirement she kept active as a Howe Helper in kindergarten classes, where she was beloved by the students.
She is survived by a daughter, Laurie Mayhew; two grandchildren, Stephen (Olivia) Mayhew and Colleen (Eric) Christiansen; and great-grandchildren, Carissa, Zander, Anthony, Zayden, Riley, and Mackenzie. Also survived by her former son-in-law, Dr. Thomas Mayhew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, and her brother, Merton.
Malcore Funeral Home has been assisting the family. Private services are planned. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. A special thanks to Kate and the staff at Aurora BayCare Hospital.
