Dorothy Jean Davis

Dorothy Jean Davis of Carroll, Ohio, passed away on January 2, 2026. She was born on September 29, 1938, in Logan County, West Virginia, to the late Roy and Carrie Dempsey.

At the age of 17, Dorothy moved from West Virginia to Ohio. She worked for Ohio Bell for a time before meeting the love of her life, Kenneth Davis. The two were married in 1958 and shared 47 years of marriage before Kenneth's passing.

Dorothy devoted her life to her family, who were the very essence of her world. She found deep joy and fulfillment in caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a very hard worker and an amazing cook-no matter what she prepared, it was always a hit. She was especially known at church gatherings, where people would eagerly gather around to enjoy her food.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Darell (Kelly) Davis, David (Kim) Davis, and Kevin (Phelyna) Davis; her daughter, Karen (Rick) Strait; her grandchildren, Justin (Heather), Nathan, Miranda (Alex), Selena, Keith, Kenzie, and Sarah (Joel); her great-grandchildren, Calandra, Carleigh, Camden, Tristain, Raylan, Kit, and Lane; her brothers, Crawford and Kyle (Della); her sisters, Shirley and Mary (Mike), sister-in-law Kathy; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth Davis; her grandson, Kyle Davis; her brothers, Roy Jr. (Gorgie) and Jim; her sisters, Betty (Jim) and Jewel (Fred); her brother-in-law, Paul; and her sister-in-law, Garnet.
