Dorothy Alice King, 88 of Blountville, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024 at Bristol Hospice House. She was born on October 19, 1935 in Bristol, TN. Dot worked for Central High School in the cafeteria. She loved working with crafts and spent time gardening and enjoyed creating beautiful things. Dot loved to bake; she used to bake and decorate wedding cakes. Camping was another favorite pastime of Dot’s. Family was most special to her; especially her grandchildren. Dot was a selfless caring person who loved to help and give to others.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Delaney King; mother, Ida Bowery; infant daughter, Kathy King; daughter, Teresa Dennison; brother, Harold Bowery.
She is survived by her son, Gary King; grandchildren, Misty Copas (Donnie) and Sarah Burk; three great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special dogs, Sugar and Toodle.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 5:00 -7:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Smith officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Emory U.M.C. Cemetery.
