Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 14, 2023, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Dorothy Mae Dumatrait, 88, who passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge.
A Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 pm.
Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Abby Dumatrait and Megan Robichaux.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery #1.
Dorothy was born on November 12, 1934, and was a lifelong resident of Breaux Bridge. She loved gardening, especially tending to and watching her gorgeous roses flower and bloom. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, playing Bingo and Pokeno, and watching TV, but her true love was really spending time with her family and friends.
She will be best remembered as a loving, caring, and incredibly generous lady. Dorothy was always known to help anyone in need, and that legacy will live on with her family.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Bobby (Jackie) Dumatrait, Timmy (Leslie) Dumatrait, Mark (Nellie) Dumatrait, and Marcel (Lisa) Dumatrait; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Dumatrait; as well as 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death her husband of 63 years, Edwin Dumatrait, Sr.; son, Edwin "Eddie" Dumatrait, Jr.; parents, Sylvester Choate and Geneva Delino; brother, Walter James Choate; sister, Joyce Romero; and her half-sister, Shirley Fabre.
Pallbearers will be Eric, Chad, Christopher, Manny and Tim Dumatrait, Jr., and Brian Breaux.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dustin, Josh, Tate Dumatrait, and Zack Robichaux.
Pellerin Funeral Home, 211 Berard St., Breaux Bridge, LA 70517 (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
